Nursing the Cheese Grater

I’ve always been in awe of my cheese grater, so much so that I wanted to be its mommy. Love it, cuddle it, nurse it. But since it’s constantly in use, I had to settle for the next best thing. Enter my baby girl. She is quite effective at simulating the nursing habits of a cheese grater. Ladies and gentlemen, she scrapes, she shreds, she grates! What a trooper!

So... how much longer before my nipples stop shrieking in fear from Baby Godzilla?

Speaking of cheese shredders... here is another perspective...

Do you have any PureLan? It's what got me through. I would keep it in my pocket and put it on when ever I felt pain. I think I was pretty sore (for the first min. while nursing)for about the first 2-3 weeks. After that it semmed to get better.
Don't believe the advice that if you are doing it right it shouldn't hurt at all. That is BULL. Those people either are men or women that have never nursed. Keep it up your doing great!

You're lucky you get to nurse. Both of mine didn't nurse. They never learned to latch and I ended up pumping and then bottle feeding them. I wish I could of nursed. :) Good luck! I'm praying for you! Love ya!

hilarious!! i am having that exact problem as we speak. you literally have to bite your tongue when they latch on or you will scream out in pain. but i promise you that the pain goes away and what is left is joyful :) she is beautiful!

I would just like to commend you on posting Mitch Hedberg.

Is it crass to say "good luck with the nips"?

Adhis, oh Adhis...I Love how you write. I have writers envy from you. I love the way you describe your emotions! Nursing is not fun. My baby is 8 months old and I have a breast infection and he has 6 teeth. talk about painful. I hear ya sister! And I have to comment on the baby blues... Please do not let it go to long thinking that it is normal. Talk to your doctor and get on meds if you need. I let it go way to long
and I was having VERY dark thoughts and it took my marraige a while to recover. That was 6 years ago. It took me that long to talk my husband into another one after that episode. So email me if you want to talk. And don't feel like your alone. I suppose no one really wants to talk about it before because it seems wrong to say. Well hopefully you love your baby and don't day dream about leaving it on the neighbors porch while you get some sleep!!
She adores you and You will be GREAT mom.

Ohh I totally know what you mean about the cheese grater... it always takes me about 3-4 weeks before I can nurse without having to bite down on something so I don't scream. After that though, its wonderful. Hang in there man.

What's up with nature anyway? The best change I ever made was using a Boppy. Could have been a coincidence of course. Hang in there!
